Although it had been a week since I was back from my holiday I didn’t feel all that refreshed. Fifteen days of packed activity was always going to take a toll on my body. I loved travelling, meeting new people, exploring and enjoying good food. But somehow, at the end of this vacation, I wanted another one. I couldn’t be sure of the exact cause, it wasn’t that I was stressed or worried. On holiday, I had literally forgotten that I had to get back to my monotonous routine. I had a lot to look forward to and we are only at the beginning of this year. Things have gone wonderfully so far. I was excited about what I had planned for the rest of this year. But somehow, I didn’t seem to have the energy to see it through.

My husband seemed to be pretty much in the same corner I was in. He had to get back to his hectic and long work hours, the noise and traffic, and the stress that goes hand in hand with living in one of the most crowded cities on the planet. He has a sensitive tummy which doesn’t get spared due to his irregular eating habits and his penchant for junk food. Although I have managed to cut down on his acidic lifestyle by packing lunch and making sure he has the necessary “healthy” snacks available at all times, I can’t help but feel that I could do more.

I was told that diet and exercise are the keys to a healthy happy lifestyle. Over the past 6 months we had made good progress in cutting down on the foodie escapades while making sure the exercise steps up. But I felt that we needed something more to give us that edge. A friend of mine, who has been an avid promoter of Amway products for years called me up at exactly this point to tell me about some Ayurvedic products that had been launched recently. I must thank her for the timely phone call. It’s been a week since we have been using the products and we feel the change already.

There are four products introduced under the Amway Nutrilite banner. This Nutrilite Traditional Herbs Range is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision, which reiterates Amway’s commitment to our Govt.’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, as it is developed for us as Indian consumers. The range is currently being manufactured at Amway’s state-of-the-art LEED ‘GOLD’ certified manufacturing facility located in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu. I was impressed with the health benefits of each of the four products and will briefly talk about each below.

Nutrilite Tulsi: The tulsi herb (Latin: Ocimum Sanctum) or Holy Basil is one of the best medicinal herbs discovered. It has germicidal and fungicidal properties. It is known to be rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants which repairs the damage and stress caused by free radicals in the body. It helps to boost the immune system and help control headaches, coughs and colds. I have always had a problem with headaches and frequent colds and this is what I need right now.

Nutrilite Brahmi: The brahmi herb (Latin: Centella Asiatica) is known to do wonders in supporting focus and concentration. It is known to help improve the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle as well has strengthen memory and intellect. My father decided to try this for his sleep problem and has already noted an improvement within a week.

Nutrilite Ashwagandha: The ashwagandha herb (Latin: Whitania somnifera), also called the Indian Ginseng, is known to relieve stress and improve energy levels. It is helpful in calming the nervous system and reducing mental tension. My mother has been using this for a week and feels more energetic.

Nutrilite Amalaki, Vihitaki & Haritaki: These herbs (Latin: Terminalia Bellirica) are very useful for gastric and digestive problems. It helps reduce indigestion, diarrhoea and constipation especially when associated with flatulence. The herb acts as a mild laxative and detoxifying agent for the gut. My husband has tried this out for a week and has noted an improvement in his indigestion and acidity problem.

Overall, I was very impressed with the prompt effects of these herbal supplements. It was good to learn that the herbs are sourced from certified farms. Amway Nutrilite ensures growing, harvesting and processing plants on certified partner organic farms from various parts of the country including MP, Karnataka, UP and Gujarat. The herbs undergo a DNA profiling which is a novel approach that involves identification of the herb species by reading the genetic make-up at molecular level by generating barcode-like patterns. It also helps in identifying better quality with active form and free from any kind of contamination/ adulteration. Such DNA Fingerprinted herbs are a unique kind currently available in the Indian market. Priced at INR 649 (inclusive of all taxes) for a bottle of 60 tablets for each variant, the new range is compliant to the new Nutraceuticals, Food for Special Dietary Use, Food for Special Medical Purpose, Functional Food and Novel Food Regulations, 2016, issued by the Food Safety Standard Authorty of India (FSSAI). In order to maintain transparency, Amway has also provided a QR code on the product packaging that explains the “Seed to Supplement” journey of the manufacturing process alongside highlighting the three key pillars of Nutrilite Traditional herbs which is Purity, Safety and Potency.

I am happy that I found a solution to my problem and am looking forward to the end of this month to see the difference that these herbal supplements make. Will post an update soon enough!
